Home cooked and amazing. Chicken legs on rice with plantains and beans were insanely great - how do you get Michelin level out of simple ingredients - just great stuff and nice staff.

With work, I often find myself in East Elmhurst a handful times a month. Over the years of coming here, the LaGuardia Cafe has been an ABSOLUTE STAPLE of my visits. Everything on the menu from the grilled chicken sandwich to the stewed chicken with rice and beans, is made with real heart and soul. The staff is always amazingly friendly making you feel like a regular to the restaurant whether it's your first time, or millionth. On my most recent visit i was fortunate enough to meet the owner, who was the full embodiment of this neighborhood gem. 5 Stars isn't nearly enough to explain the feeling of being in such great food and company!

Food was fantastically prepared!! Not greasy at all! Brings back sweet memories! Staff was so very knowledgeable & polite!!I I especially love the assembly line feature! Interior could use more air conditioning! Seemed to me that they treat every customer like family!!!

Just a few blocks from LaGuardia Airport, LaGuardia Cafe has Puerto Rican food hot and ready. A hot bar has meals ready to go for most of the day or you can order off of the menu. Plenty of local traffic getting filling meals. I haven't had mofongo for several years and made the walk on a long layover in New York. Far better than anything in the airport. I would also eat here on an airport layover. Nice ladies working the counter and as long as you are off peak hours there should be some seating available.

Highly rated cafe in a hard-to-get-to part of the city. Outside seating under the awning was closed due to the cold weather, so had to make do with the limited table seating inside. Menu is next to the cash register if necessary, while several food items are behind the counter in hearing trays for buffet style plates. Opted for the Cheese Empanada ($2.50), Egg + Cheese Sandwich ($4), and a Coffee ($2). Empanada is your basic fare, not great and an even amount of melted cheese inside. Sandwich comes out a bit later - good seasoning in the eggs, and again a balanced amount of cheese. Bread is fresh and buttered well. No frills spot with great prices and quick service. A nice place to stop before a trip in the morning.
